In my over thirty years in publishing, and twenty-five years in digital publishing, I've had the opportunity to lead or work with some well known brands (e.g. past president or publisher of The Boston Globe, GateHouse Media New England, The Baltimore Sun, etc.). In each case, a major organizational strategy was, or became launching or relaunching digital publishing businesses. Fortunately, many of these ventures went very well, e.g. the start up of a breakthrough site in 1995 - boston.com, and many far more recent, but ALL were expensive and involved large numbers or people and a took a great deal of time.

In most cases, the cost was in the multi-millions and the time frame was well-over a year (or much more). I was introduced to John and Serenity in late 2017 while advising a niche sports publishing business. They needed a completely new and updated approach to digital publishing. One of the core challenges was the limited amount of capital they had to spend and the need to architect a publishing environment that could be stood up in a few months, was super-reliable and simple to use and maintain, could be scaled to many brands and titles without heavy additional development costs and would enable visitors to become paying subscribers on a fully self-service basis. After speaking to MANY technology designers and developers, I had become concerned that the needed provider, at a cost my client could afford, MIGHT NOT EXIST. Fortunately, I was put in touch with JS Web Solutions by someone that had working with me at boston.com years ago and then branched out to become a very successful digital publishing entrepreneur - and had used JS Web Solutions for many of his ventures.

It is hard to describe and virtually impossible to exaggerate the value John and Serenity have provided to enable a transformation of my client's sports publishing business. From the start of 2018 to the first site's launch in May 2018, the business has digitally progressed from the static display of PDF page images from their monthly print magazines, and with NO paying digital subscribers and very limited digital advertising opportunities to having a vibrant, full-on digital publishing model that is - in its own right - very successful. The degree of knowledge, professionalism and dedication demonstrated in designing, developing and supporting what has become a core part of the business has been astounding.

There are basically NO instances in my past experiences I can compare favorably to what it's been like to work, and achieve success with John and Serenity.
